Corporate Tax registration gives a taxable person its UAE Corporate Tax Registration Number through the FTA’s EmaraTax platform. ZeroSync supports Dubai businesses and eligible natural persons with taxpayer-category checks, deadline review, document readiness, application support and late-registration waiver assessment where the conditions may apply.
There is no single registration date that applies to every UAE taxpayer. The correct timeline depends on the legal form, residence status, date of incorporation or establishment, permanent-establishment or nexus position, and—where an individual conducts a UAE business—the relevant business revenue.
Free Zone Persons are also within the Corporate Tax system. A business may later qualify for a 0% rate on Qualifying Income under the QFZP regime, but that does not remove the Corporate Tax registration obligation.
The FTA states that a natural person must register where total Revenue from a UAE Business or Business Activity exceeds AED 1 million in a calendar year. Salary, private investment income and real-estate investment income are excluded from that Revenue test under the FTA’s published registration conditions.
Correct classification matters because it determines the timeline and the information the FTA expects.
Companies and other juridical persons incorporated, established or recognised in the UAE are reviewed against the applicable registration timeline.
Free Zone entities register for Corporate Tax. QFZP status is assessed separately after registration and depends on the statutory conditions.
Registration may arise through a UAE Permanent Establishment, nexus or other circumstances specified by the Corporate Tax rules.
Individuals conducting a UAE Business or Business Activity are tested against the AED 1 million calendar-year Revenue threshold and the relevant exclusions.
The FTA states that a UAE branch of a domestic juridical person is an extension of its head office and is not separately registered for Corporate Tax.
The FTA may require specified categories of Exempt Persons to register, depending on the applicable exemption and registration rules.
The registration timeline depends on when and how the person became subject to the Corporate Tax registration rules.
| Applicant situation | Registration framework |
|---|---|
| UAE Resident juridical person incorporated, established or recognised on or after 1 March 2024 | Generally within three months from incorporation, establishment or recognition under FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024. |
| Foreign juridical person effectively managed and controlled in the UAE on or after 1 March 2024 | Generally within three months from the end of its Financial Year under the FTA registration timeline. |
| Non-resident juridical person with a UAE Permanent Establishment arising on or after 1 March 2024 | Generally within six months from the date the Permanent Establishment exists. |
| Non-resident juridical person with UAE nexus arising on or after 1 March 2024 | Generally within three months from establishing the nexus. |
| Resident natural person exceeding the AED 1 million Business / Business Activity Revenue threshold | By 31 March of the calendar year following the year in which the threshold is exceeded. |
The practical priority is to identify the deadline that applied to the taxpayer, complete the registration, and then check whether the FTA’s late-registration penalty waiver initiative can still be satisfied.
The FTA’s current service card states that Corporate Tax registration is completed through EmaraTax, is available 24 hours a day, is free of charge, has an estimated application-submission time of 25 minutes and an estimated FTA completion time of 20 business days after a completed application is received.
Processing can still take longer where information is incomplete or the FTA requests clarification. Preparing the ownership, licence and authorised-signatory information before submission reduces avoidable back-and-forth.
The FTA does not charge a fee for the Corporate Tax registration service itself.
The service card lists 25 minutes as the estimated time to submit an application.
The FTA lists 20 business days as the estimated completion time for a completed application.
Corporate Tax registration is available through EmaraTax 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The FTA service card currently accepts PDF documents and states a maximum file size of 15 MB per document. Additional supporting information may be requested depending on the applicant type and facts.
The FTA lists an AED 10,000 administrative penalty for late Corporate Tax registration. A separate waiver initiative can exempt or credit back the penalty where its conditions are met.
For a taxable person, the central waiver condition is filing the first Corporate Tax Return within seven months from the end of the first Tax Period. For an Exempt Person required to register, the corresponding condition is filing the first annual declaration within seven months from the end of the first Financial Year.
The FTA states that a paid late-registration penalty can be credited back to the taxpayer’s Corporate Tax account after the waiver conditions are satisfied. The waiver applies automatically when the published conditions are met; the FTA says a separate reconsideration or penalty-waiver request is not required for this initiative.
No. Small Business Relief is a Corporate Tax relief for eligible Resident Persons; it does not remove the underlying registration obligation where the person is taxable. The Ministry of Finance announced in August 2026 that the relief period has been extended to eligible Tax Periods ending on or before 31 December 2029, while the AED 3 million Revenue threshold continues to apply subject to the statutory conditions.
A taxpayer using Small Business Relief still needs to keep the Corporate Tax position organised, make the election for an eligible Tax Period, file the required return and maintain records.
Identify the taxpayer type and whether Corporate Tax registration is required.
Map the applicable registration timeline and identify any late-registration exposure.
Gather licence, entity, ownership and authorised-signatory information.
Support the EmaraTax registration application and consistency of submitted information.
Respond to document requests and connect registration to the first filing obligation.
Many registration delays are not caused by the form itself. They arise because legal-form, licence, ownership or authorised-signatory information does not agree across the supporting documents and the EmaraTax profile.
Once the Corporate Tax Registration Number is issued, the taxpayer still needs to maintain accounting records, assess taxable income, identify elections or reliefs, prepare the Corporate Tax Return and settle Corporate Tax payable by the applicable deadline.

It is mandatory for persons that fall within the UAE Corporate Tax registration requirements. The FTA states that all taxable persons must register. Natural persons must register when Revenue from a UAE Business or Business Activity exceeds AED 1 million in a calendar year, subject to the statutory exclusions.
Registration is completed through the FTA’s EmaraTax platform. The current FTA service card states that the service is free, available 24/7, has an estimated 25-minute submission time and an estimated 20-business-day completion time for a completed application.
The FTA lists an AED 10,000 administrative penalty for late Corporate Tax registration.
Yes, where the FTA initiative conditions are met. A taxable person must submit the first Corporate Tax Return within seven months from the end of the first Tax Period; an Exempt Person required to register must submit the first annual declaration within the corresponding seven-month period.
